Week 1
Preliminary Task
For our preliminary my role in the piece was to direct, film and edit the scene. In the beginning of the movie we took plenty of shot and reverse shots within the conversation that the two characters had, we did this because i wanted to have conversation to seem real and to make it seem natural and professional. I used the 180 degrees rule through out the conversation, so i could make all the scenes look the same, constant and accurate.

Week 2: initial ideas & research (14/11/2016)
In this week we all went through different horror movie openings like Women in Black, Saw, Scream and many more and as a class we had to analyse the different openings and we has focus on the camera angles and what made the opening seem very effective. We had to look at the costume, lighting, costume, Cinematography, Mise-en-scene and many more specifically to see what made the opening look outstanding.

Week 4
Week 4 : Pitches and Group information.
Pitches
This week I wasn’t in school, because I was in the hospital due to the fact that I got food poising and I wasn’t feeling well at all to come to school. So, unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to present my pitch to the class, because I wasn’t in during that week.
But the following week when I felt better I went to school and Lara really wanted me in her group so I decided to read her pitch and I really liked the pitch and it sounded really good and unique to me so I accepted the position in her group. I felt really happy that she really wanted me in her group, because she is a good friend and she seemed very organized towards what she wanted to do.
We created a mind map showing who’s doing what and what we need to do.
Week 5
Research (survey result analysis)
This week we had to make a questionnaire that we had to ask our target audience about what type of thing they would like in horror movies, for example setting, what type of horror and many more. Mohammed wrote a set of questions to ask our audience and I used the results of the questionnaire to create bar charts.

week 6
Story Board Draft and final
This week Lara told me to do a draft and finalized storyboard that would match and link with the script that she would have been writing up. Mohammed was making a shooting time -table, so when Lara and I finished with our stuff we would be able to start filming. While we were all doing our individual work a couple of things did happen to us that was a disadvantage for us, which was that we had to change the location on the park that we was going film and we had to find actors that had experience with filming which was a bit hard to find. This made us lose a bit of time but at the end we all managed to get all everything sorted.

This week we also created a whatsapp group chat, so that we could send any pictures needed and also to start planning when we are going to film.
week 7
Filming
On the 3rd of January we all planned where and when we was going to film for our opening scene and we decided that we was going to film at 5:00pm after school, because we wanted it do be a bit dark so we can have a good view when we was filming. However during that lesson we decided to use that lesson to make fake blood and it was very difficult to make, because if you pored too much food colouring to the mixture it would make it too fake so we would have to start the whole process again. But at the end we managed to make the fake blood.
Later on that day we all met up and we started filming and to be honest I felt like everything was going very well with the actors showing that they are having fun and we managed to get all the footage that we needed. There was some minor problems that we had was that we couldn’t exactly manage to the light to make the scene look natural with the sunset that we had in the background.
Throughout that week once I got the footage I started to edit the footage that I had, because I was the groups editor and Mohammed started to plan out days, time and equipment that we needed to film for next time.

week 8
Filming
This week we filmed the walking scene when Andrea gets drunk and is walking home on a very strong drug that is very dangerous for her. At the beginning we were planning to use a bus as a form of vehicle for her to go home, but we had several tries but it was too difficult and it didn’t seem good or professional at all. So instead Mohammed gave a very good suggestion that we can borrow one of his friends car for the scene that she goes home. After we done the car scene it was much more easier to do than the bus, because the car didn’t consistently stop at different bus stops and we wasn’t in anyone’s way with the filming equipment.
The idea of having a girl on the side of he road not feeling well and is really drunk and have some one offering her a lift home can be very effective for the audience, because this can make the audience question themselves if the person that is going to drop of Andrea home will kill her or do anything to her.
The location that we filmed was very good, because it linked with our standards in regards to how the atmosphere should look at night, because there wasn’t anyone there and there was many littering and tree branches on the fences and on the ground that gave the a very reality look to me.
After we filmed the footage I started to edit all the other scenes that we filmed on that day and I started to make the footage like with the pervious footage that we had in the park. Mohammed and Lara gave me their inputs while I was editing so it could meet everyone’s standards. Mohammed and Lara started to plan the third week of filming and they got everything that we needed so that filming would go very smoothly.

week 9
Filming
So this week we filmed the most important scene where Andrea goes to her house and will kills her little brother. Filming this scene was the hardest scene to film, because we had to consistently reshoot some of the scenes, because we had to get the right angles. This was happening, because the stairs was very narrow and Andrea’s room was very small. However after many tries we managed to get all of the footage that we needed.
The second problem that we had was that it took us a very long time to film this scene, because we kept on getting interrupted by the family, or Andrea would get out of her filming mode, which meant that we would have to consistently re-shoot some of the scene again and again.
However there was some minor problems, which was that we forgot to take the lights with us, but we used our flashlights from our phones so we wouldn’t fall back from schedule.
So after we filmed the final scene, which Andrea wakes up after she gets home and kills her brother the next day we made a new batch of fake blood for when she wakes up and sees the blood on her hands. We done that scene during school time we can show that it was the next morning that this happened.

week 10
Editing
The beginning of this week I edited all the footage that had to get together and made sure that the storyline made sense and that it was clear what was happening. While I was editing Lara and Mohammed started to look for different soundtracks and sound effects so that we would add to the footage so that we can make the footage seem more realistic and professional. After the soundtrack and the sound effect, me, Mohammed and Lara decided that we was going to call our opening 'Psychosis' we thought that this would be an effective name to call it because psychosis is an abnormal condition of the mind that involves a loss of contact with reality. So then Mohammed and Lara went to look for a good title design so that it would look very good with our opening.

week 11
Editing
This week we I paid more attention on the editing and I fixed some of the parts that needed changes for example I added some off the effects in certain parts to emphases them and make look more scary and help build tension, like the part where Andrea is walking down to get the knife, we added some hazy, double vision effect to try and show the audience how she was feeling and what she is seeing. Mohammed and Lara found some sound effects to add to our opening so when make all the scenes seem more realistic for example when Andrea was walking in the dark alleyway we added some footstep sound effects to make it seem more realistic.
We also added the titles and the soundtrack and we tried to make sure that everything went smoothly and we made sure that they jump cuts of her in park and her walking home were smooth and had some sort of link.

week 12
Editing
This week we all added little touches to the opening and we all decided to have BlumHouse as the production company for the opening scene, they are a successful company that has produced so many famous horror movies such as Insidious, Sinister and Ouija which are some off the award winning movies. So we thought that this company would be the best production company to use for our opening. We asked teachers and students to look at our opening and to give their opinions in regards to what they think about the opening. We decided to keep the opening titles in the same font as the name of the opening scene so that it would be consistent and professional looking to someone watching it. After we finished with our fonts, soundtracks and audience review from our fellow students and teachers we watched the opening many times to see if we are happy with the final product, which we all was.
